Recovery when a vehicle cannot simply be driven or rolled
A non-runner is not always a straightforward tow. A vehicle may have power but no drive, no electrical power at all, an electronic parking brake that will not release, an automatic gearbox locked in park, seized brakes, flat or damaged tyres, steering damage, missing wheels or no keys. Each condition changes how it can be moved.
Our expanding multi-vehicle operation includes tilt-and-slide trucks, beavertails, truck-and-trailer combinations, winches, recovery skates, dollies and low-loading ramps. Equipment suitability depends on the vehicle’s weight, dimensions, condition, ground surface, loading angle and space.
We assess before attendance wherever possible. That helps avoid unsafe forcing, preventable vehicle damage and an unsuitable truck arriving for a difficult non-running car.

Car will not start
Battery, starter, fuel, engine, electrical or unknown faults that leave a car broken down at home, work, roadside, garage or car park.
Automatic car stuck in park
Electronic or mechanical faults can prevent neutral selection. We need the exact model, key status, wheel movement and access to plan recovery.
Locked wheels or seized brakes
Long-stored cars, damaged braking systems and electronic parking-brake faults may require skates, dollies, winching or further specialist preparation.
No keys or lost keys
A car without keys may have locked steering, transmission and parking brake. Ownership and authority to move it must be clear, and recovery may require additional equipment.
Project and barn-find vehicles
Incomplete, stored or restoration vehicles can have seized parts, low clearance, missing tyres or weak structures. Accurate photos and condition details are essential.
Accident-damaged non-runners
Collision damage to wheels, steering, suspension or bodywork needs a separate risk assessment. Severe damage, leaks or EV battery concerns may need emergency or specialist controls.
Difficult access: driveways, car parks and restricted spaces
Tell us if the vehicle is in an underground or multi-storey car park, behind a narrow gate, tight against a wall, on soft ground, at the bottom of a steep drive or blocked by other vehicles. Height restrictions, turning space and a safe winching line can determine whether a normal recovery truck can reach it.
A collection from a level roadside with clear access is very different from a locked-wheel vehicle in a basement car park. We may ask for photographs, measurements or a video before quoting. In some cases, the vehicle must first be repositioned or made safe by another specialist before transport can begin.
Do not attempt to drag a locked or damaged vehicle with an unsuitable rope or another car. That can damage the vehicle, surface and towing points and may put people at risk.

- Photos from the front, rear, both sides, wheels and access route, taken only where safe and permitted
If the vehicle belongs to someone else, is at an auction or is held by a garage or storage yard, you must have authority and any release reference needed for collection.
How non-running vehicle recovery works
1. Condition check
We establish what prevents movement, whether keys are available and exactly which wheels, steering and brakes operate.
2. Access check
The approach, height, width, surface, gradient and safe loading space are reviewed from your description and photos.
3. Recovery plan and quote
The proposed equipment and price reflect the actual loading work, distance and destination—not just the mileage.
4. Controlled movement and loading
Winching, skates, dollies or low-loading equipment may be used where assessed as suitable. We do not force a vehicle when its condition makes normal movement unsafe.
5. Secure transport and delivery
The non-runner is secured and delivered to the agreed garage, home, bodyshop, auction site or storage location.

Planned vehicle transportation starts from £1.75 per mile, while recovery call-outs start from £50. Final pricing depends on the vehicle, equipment, access, mileage, timing, waiting and destination. VAT invoices are available where applicable.

Can you recover a car that is stuck in park?
Often, but we need the exact model, fault, key status, wheel movement and access. Electronic parking brakes and transmissions differ, so skates, dollies or a manufacturer release procedure may be required.
Can you collect a vehicle with no keys?
Potentially, when ownership or authority is clear. Missing keys can lock steering, gearbox and brakes, so tell us before quoting and provide detailed access photographs.
Can you move a car with seized brakes or locked wheels?
Many such vehicles can be assessed for recovery using skates, dollies or winching, but ground surface, wheel condition, weight and loading space are critical. Some cases require prior mechanical work.
Do you recover project cars and barn finds?
Yes, subject to condition. Tell us about missing parts, weak tyres, corrosion, low clearance, seized components and whether safe structural loading points remain.
Can you recover from an underground car park?
Possibly, but height and turning restrictions may prevent a standard truck entering. Send the signed height limit, ramp, entrance, parking position and exit route so we can assess a workable method.
Can you move an immobilised EV?
We assess the exact model and follow its manufacturer recovery requirements. A locked parking brake, flat 12-volt system or suspected battery damage can materially change the recovery method.
