CAR & VEHICLE TRANSPORTATION

Vehicles We Recover & Transport

From everyday cars and light commercial vans to EVs, classics, projects, non-runners and accident-damaged vehicles, BZ Recovery provides vehicle recovery and car transportation for private, trade and business customers.

Every booking is assessed for weight, dimensions, condition, clearance, wheel movement, access and route. Tell us exactly what the vehicle is and how it moves—never assume a standard transporter suits every job.

One clear guide to the vehicles BZ Recovery can move

Customers search for car transport, vehicle transportation, car delivery, recovery truck, tow truck and vehicle recovery near me—but the right service depends on why the vehicle needs moving. An urgent breakdown requires different planning from a booked auction collection, a lowered classic or a scheduled dealer transfer.

Our fleet and equipment include tilt-and-slide trucks, beavertails, truck-and-trailer combinations, roadside vehicles, winches, recovery skates, dollies and low-loading ramps. The equipment assigned is based on the actual vehicle and collection rather than a one-size-fits-all promise.

This page is the starting point. Follow the relevant service link for more detailed requirements, limitations and quote information.

Cars, vans and light commercial vehicles

Everyday cars and family vehicles

Hatchbacks, saloons, estates, crossovers, SUVs and many 4x4s for breakdown recovery, garage delivery, purchase collection, relocation or planned car transport.

Vans and light commercial vehicles

Many small and medium vans can be recovered or transported. We need the exact model, wheelbase, roof height, gross weight and approximate carried load before confirming suitability.

Electric cars and hybrids

EV and hybrid recovery requires model-specific towing procedures, accurate weight and additional caution after impact or suspected battery damage. Visit EV Recovery.

Motorcycles and unusual vehicles

Do not assume every two-wheeler, trike, quad, plant item or unusual conversion fits standard equipment. Send dimensions, weight and photographs for an individual assessment.

Non-running, immobilised and damaged vehicles

Non-runners and project cars

Cars that will not start or drive, restoration projects, barn finds and long-stored vehicles can be assessed for collection. Seized brakes, weak tyres and missing parts must be disclosed.

Locked wheels, no keys and stuck in park

These conditions change loading substantially. See immobilised and non-running vehicle recovery and provide detailed access photos.

Accident-damaged vehicles

Collision damage to steering, suspension, wheels, bodywork or electrical systems needs a damage assessment. Emergency services control any live or hazardous incident.

Salvage and written-off vehicles

Collection can be considered when legal status, site release, condition and destination are clear. Category, missing components, leaks and structural damage must be declared.

Prestige, classic, modified and low-clearance cars

Classic cars, prestige vehicles, sports cars, performance models, lowered cars and modified vehicles deserve careful planning. Low splitters, side skirts, air suspension, body kits, long overhangs, wide wheels and non-standard towing points can reduce loading clearance.

We use the assessed suitable open recovery or transportation equipment available for the job. We do not advertise enclosed transport on this page. If enclosed carriage is essential, tell us before booking so the requirement can be discussed rather than assumed.

For condition checks, loading details and quote information, visit Prestige & Classic Vehicle Transportation.

Auction, trade and planned vehicle movements

Auction and salvage collection

Pre-booked collections from auction or salvage sites require cleared payment, release authority, reference details and accurate vehicle condition information. Read the auction transport guide.

Dealer and garage transportation

Scheduled transfers between dealers, garages, bodyshops, preparation centres, auctions and customer addresses can be arranged subject to route and availability.

Fleet and repeat movements

Businesses can request recurring or multi-vehicle logistics. Timing, capacity, vehicle condition and invoicing are agreed for the actual work.

UK and mainland European transport

Longer-distance car transport within the UK and selected mainland European routes can be quoted, subject to documentation, customs, route and operational availability.

Vehicle suitability checklist

  • Make, model, registration, model year, body type and fuel or powertrain
  • Exact dimensions and weight for larger, modified, specialist or commercial vehicles
  • Whether the vehicle starts, drives, steers, selects neutral and releases its parking brake
  • Key availability and which wheels roll freely
  • Tyre, wheel, suspension, steering, underbody, collision or fire damage
  • Modifications, low clearance, body kits, non-standard wheels and air-suspension settings
  • Collection and delivery access, opening times, release procedures and contact details
  • Postcodes, preferred date, timing constraints and whether the movement is urgent or planned

Photos can help verify condition and access. For a non-standard vehicle, send front, rear, both sides, wheels, underside clearance and the approach to the collection point.

How vehicle recovery and transportation works

1. Tell us about the vehicle

We identify the type, size, weight, condition, keys, wheel movement and special loading considerations.

2. Confirm the journey

Collection, destination, access, contact details, release requirements, dates and time windows are checked.

3. Match suitable equipment

The vehicle and job are assessed against truck, trailer, winching, skate, dolly and ramp capability.

4. Agree the quote

Pricing reflects mileage, route, condition, loading work, waiting, equipment and timing. The agreed scope is confirmed before the movement.

5. Collection and delivery

The vehicle is loaded, secured and delivered to the authorised destination, subject to safe and lawful access.

Vehicle transport prices and coverage

Planned vehicle transportation starts from £1.75 per mile. Recovery call-outs start from £50. These are starting points, not flat prices: the final quote depends on the route, vehicle, access, equipment, timing, waiting and whether the vehicle runs and rolls.

Our core local area covers Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. We also quote for longer UK transport and selected mainland European routes. See areas we cover and European vehicle transportation.

Vehicles we recover and transport: FAQs

Can you transport a car that does not run?

Yes, many non-running cars can be transported. Tell us whether it steers, rolls, selects neutral, releases the brake and has keys. Access and wheel condition determine the loading plan.

Do you recover vans?

We assess many light commercial vans. Exact model, dimensions, gross weight, wheelbase, roof height and carried load are required because capacity varies by recovery vehicle.

Can you move an electric car?

Yes, subject to model, weight, condition and manufacturer recovery instructions. Battery damage, a locked parking brake or failure to select neutral can change the method.

Do you transport lowered and classic cars?

We assess classic, prestige, modified and lowered vehicles using clearance details and photographs. The service uses suitable open recovery or transport equipment unless another arrangement is explicitly confirmed.

Can you collect from an auction?

Yes, subject to the auction’s booking, payment, release and loading rules. Provide the member, lot or reference information, collection slot, condition report and storage deadline.

Can you transport vehicles outside the local area?

Yes. UK-wide and selected mainland European vehicle transport can be quoted, subject to route, documentation, customs where applicable and availability.

What vehicle do you need moved?

Send the registration, condition, wheel and key status, collection and delivery postcodes, access photographs and preferred timing. We will check suitability and provide a clear recovery or transport quote.
