Before you call: four details that speed up a recovery quote
1. Exact location
Send a postcode, live location, road direction, junction, business name or clear landmark. For motorways, include the carriageway and nearest marker or emergency-area number.
2. Vehicle details
Registration, make, model, fuel type, approximate loaded weight for a van and any modifications help us identify suitable equipment.
3. Actual condition
Tell us whether it starts, rolls, steers, selects neutral, releases the brake and has keys, plus any collision, wheel, tyre or battery damage.
4. Required destination
Give the delivery postcode and confirm that the garage, bodyshop, home, auction or business can receive the vehicle.

Are you open 24 hours a day?
Yes. BZ Recovery provides a 24/7 recovery call-out service. Planned vehicle transportation is scheduled by arrangement. Availability and response depend on the current workload, exact location, traffic, access and suitable equipment.
How quickly can you reach me?
For local incidents, an estimated response may often be around 20–40 minutes, but this is not a guaranteed arrival time. We confirm the best available ETA after dispatch, and update it if conditions materially change.
How much does breakdown recovery cost?
Recovery call-outs start from £50. Location, time, distance, vehicle size, condition, access, loading equipment and destination determine the actual quote.
What should I do if I break down on a motorway?
Move to a place of relative safety if the vehicle can be driven safely, use hazard lights and follow official instructions. Call 999 if you are in a live lane or anyone is in immediate danger. Once safe, provide the motorway, direction, junction or marker to our motorway recovery team.
Can you repair my car at the roadside?
Some faults may be suitable for roadside assistance, but a safe fix cannot be promised before assessment. On motorways or dangerous roads, recovery may be safer than attempting a repair. See Roadside Assistance.
Where can you take my broken-down car?
Common destinations include your home, a garage, dealership, tyre centre or bodyshop. The destination must be accessible and willing to receive the vehicle, particularly outside normal opening hours.
Do you recover vans?
We recover many light commercial vans. Provide the exact model, wheelbase, roof height, gross weight and approximate load so capacity can be checked.
Can passengers travel in the recovery vehicle?
Passenger capacity differs between vehicles and may not cover everyone in your party. Tell us how many people are present when booking; alternative passenger arrangements may be required.
Accident, EV and difficult non-runner questions
What should I do after a collision?
Make people and traffic safety the priority. Call 999 for injuries, dangerous obstruction, fire, smoke, fuel leakage or another immediate hazard. Follow emergency-service instructions, then arrange accident vehicle recovery when access is authorised.
Can you recover a car with damaged or locked wheels?
Often, subject to the damage, ground surface and access. Skates, dollies, winching or other equipment may be needed. Tell us which wheels roll and steer and send safe photographs.
Can you recover a car that is stuck in park?
Potentially. Electronic parking brakes and gearboxes vary by model, and a flat 12-volt system may prevent normal release. See Immobilised & Non-Running Vehicle Recovery.
Can you move a vehicle with no keys?
It may be possible when ownership or authority is clear. No-key vehicles can have locked steering, transmission and brakes, which changes the equipment and cost.
Do you recover electric cars and hybrids?
Yes, many EVs and hybrids can be recovered, but the model’s manufacturer instructions must be followed. Tell us the exact model, warning messages, battery state and whether the wheels and parking brake release.
Can an EV be towed with its wheels on the road?
Not every EV can. Many models require driven wheels or all wheels to be raised for longer movements. We assess the manufacturer procedure rather than assuming conventional towing is safe.
What if an electric car has battery damage or is smoking?
Move away, keep others clear and call 999. Do not touch or approach a vehicle showing fire, smoke, unusual heat, hissing or suspected high-voltage battery damage. Emergency services must control the hazard before recovery is considered.
Can you collect a project car or barn find?
Yes, subject to condition. Declare seized brakes, weak tyres, missing parts, low clearance, corrosion and structural concerns and provide detailed access photographs.
Vehicle transportation questions
What is the difference between recovery and vehicle transportation?
Recovery usually responds to a breakdown, incident or immobilised vehicle. Transportation is a planned movement, such as an auction collection, dealer transfer, purchase delivery or classic-car journey. The equipment may overlap, but the urgency, scheduling and quote differ.
How much is planned vehicle transport?
Planned vehicle transportation starts from £1.75 per mile. The actual quote can also reflect collection mileage, route, vehicle condition, loading work, waiting, tolls, crossings, timing and equipment.
What vehicles can you transport?

Can you transport a classic, prestige or lowered car?
Yes, subject to measured clearance, vehicle condition, modifications and access. Our stated service uses suitable open recovery or transport equipment; enclosed transport is not implied. See Prestige & Classic Vehicle Transportation.
Can you collect a vehicle from an auction?
Yes, when the site’s payment, booking, release, reference and loading requirements are ready. Tell us about missing keys, locked wheels, damage and the storage deadline. Read Auction & Salvage Vehicle Transportation.
Do you provide trade transport for garages and dealers?
Yes. Single and repeat movements can be quoted for garages, dealers, bodyshops, auctions and fleets. Recurring capacity, timing and account terms apply only when expressly agreed. See Trade Vehicle Transportation.
Can you transport a car between the UK and Europe?
Selected UK-to-Europe and Europe-to-UK routes can be quoted, subject to destination, documentation, customs, route and availability. BZ Recovery is not automatically your customs agent. Read European Vehicle Transportation.
Are VAT invoices available?
Yes. BZ Recovery Ltd is VAT registered. Provide the correct billing name and any purchase-order or job reference needed.

Which areas do you cover?
Our core local recovery area is Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire, including Luton, Dunstable, Bedford, Milton Keynes, Hemel Hempstead, St Albans, Watford, Stevenage, Hatfield, Aylesbury, High Wycombe and surrounding towns. Browse Areas We Cover.
Do you cover the M1, M25, M40 and A1(M)?
We provide recovery around these major routes within our operating area, subject to safe access and any police or road-authority control. We also cover major A-roads including the A5, A6, A41, A421, A414, A505, A602 and A1081.
Can you transport a vehicle anywhere in the UK?
Longer-distance UK movements can be quoted. Availability, route, dates, vehicle condition and equipment are confirmed for each booking.
What photographs should I send?
For a normal vehicle, send front, rear and side views plus the access. For damage or a non-runner, include each wheel, ground clearance, loose parts and the loading route. Never take photos in live traffic or near a fire or battery hazard.
What can change a quote?
Undeclared damage, missing keys, locked wheels, incorrect weight, restricted access, waiting, a changed destination, auction release failure or a different vehicle condition can change the scope and price.
Should I remove belongings from the vehicle?
Yes, remove valuables and personal items where possible. Contents are not automatically accepted for transport and may create weight, customs, security or liability issues.
How do I book?
Call 07938 557 510, send the details on WhatsApp or use the contact and quote form. A booking is confirmed when the scope, price, timing and required information have been agreed.
What information should a garage or auction have before delivery?
Confirm the address, opening time, contact name, booking or lot reference, unloading access and willingness to receive a damaged or non-running vehicle. An unbooked site may refuse delivery.
